The Afghan Whigs are returning with their first full length album in 16 years, and today, they've given us a brand new song with a slick new music video. Do The Beast will come out in April of this year, supported by a handful of tour dates and an appearance at Coachella.
"Algiers" is the first single from Do The Beast and the video is a Southwestern tale of violence and revenge. The Philip Harder-directed clip sees frontman Greg Dulli portray a city-slicking interloper in a town called Algiers, although it bears little resemblance to the real Algiers. The chilled out country guitar gives way to an electric solo as the violence picks up and then the tune acts as a subdued counterpoint to Dulli's vengeance. It's a cool clip and the tune bodes well for the new material. Check it out above.
Do To The Beast will be out on Sub Pop April 15th. Pre-order is available now through Sub Pop or iTunes.
